Need Help Replacing a Fuel Tank?
Vermont adopted new regulations for above ground oil and kerosene tanks that went into effect last year, and a tank can be "red tagged" by a fuel dealer if deemed unsafe to fill. Tanks must be inspected every three years.Visit the Heating Oil Tank Removal and Replacement Financial Assistance Program site to see if you qualify for financial assistance. If you are renting, your landlord must be in compliance with these regulations, and they may apply for the financial assistance. If you are having difficulties with your landlord refusing to resolve heating fuel tank issues or with maintaining a working heating system, contact your Town Health Officer.
