Food Shelf Closed on November 23
The Food Shelf will be closed on Friday, November 23, to give our volunteers time with their families for the Thanksgiving weekend. We are open for regular hours the rest of the month.
Hearts for Hinesburg
Please stop by the Champlain Valley Union High School Craft Fair on Saturday, November 24, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Community members have been busy decorating wooden heart ornaments to raise funds for HCRC. A suggested donation of $10, or as you are able, will get you one of these beauties and will provide program support for neighbors in need of food, emergency financial assistance and connection to community. Spread the love!
The December 4 Community Supper at the Hinesburgh Public House will benefit the Hinesburg Community Resource Center, and we really want to pack the house. The new format for these suppers is fun. Family style 3-4 course meals are served at 2 seatings, 5:30 and 7:00. The price of the meal is $25 (not including drinks or tip) and half of that goes to HCRC to provide needed services in our community. We hope you will save the date and make a reservation to join us with friends and family.
Need Help Replacing a Fuel Tank?
Vermont adopted new regulations for above ground oil and kerosene tanks that went into effect last year, and a tank can be "red tagged" by a fuel dealer if deemed unsafe to fill. Tanks must be inspected every three years.Visit the Heating Oil Tank Removal and Replacement Financial Assistance Program site to see if you qualify for financial assistance. If you are renting, your landlord must be in compliance with these regulations, and they may apply for the financial assistance. If you are having difficulties with your landlord refusing to resolve heating fuel tank issues or with maintaining a working heating system, contact your Town Health Officer.
